GREEN PALLET STOCK GREEN PALLET STOCK grade (LPD) meets all existing standards of the NWPCA and is used for pallet construction. Deckboards: (1x4) 11/16 inch x 3.75 inches x 40 inches.  (1x5) 11/16 inch x 4.50 inches x 40 inches, (1x6) 11/16 inch x 5.75 inches x 40 inches. Stringers: (2x4) 1.50 inch x 3.75 inches x 48 inches. Deck Board Tolerance: Length - 3/16 inch short allowed. Stringer Tolerance: Length - 3/16 allowed, Thickness - 1/16 inch over or 1/16 inch under allowed. Width - 1/8 inch over or 1/8 inch under allowed. Wane: maximum allowable wane is 25 percent of the nominal width for the full length of the stock and no more than 2/3 the thickness of the stock. Wane can be on both edges of the stock, not to exceed 25 percent maximum. All four sides must have a minimum of 1/8 inch natural edge. Knots: maximum sound knot size allowed is 50 percent of the cross sectional area of the stock. Maximum unsound knot size allowed is 25 percent of the cross sectional area of the stock. Knots in notched area of 2x4 are limited to 33 percent of the cross sectional area. Maximum knot sizes must be separated by 6 inches.  Rot: not admitted Splits: limited to one split equal to the width of the piece, or several smaller splits equal in length to the maximum allowed split. Horizontal splits not allowed. Any splits that interfere with the notched area of 2x4 pallet are not allowed.
